Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends to come together and to share good food, memories, and to catch up with everyone. It is also a time for cooking enough food to feed the entire block and sometimes things can get out of hand. We want you to be safe and to enjoy your holidays. That’s why we at NYC Top Building Management want to remind you of the importance of having a kitchen fire extinguisher handy at all times.
In our blog post of Please P-A-S-S the Fire Extinguisher we outlined how to use a fire extinguisher and how to look for the proper class pertaining to different types of fires. This important information can help to ensure you have the proper tools handy in proportion to the situation. For instance: an electrical fire will need a different dispersing agent than that of a grease fire, so please check the label on the fire extinguisher to be safe.
If you are deep-frying a turkey in your back yard or on your balcony or deck this year, be sure to have a Class K extinguisher on hand and know how to use it. Also, if you are burning candles, be sure to keep an eye on them, and don’t put them anywhere near combustible items such as loose paper, curtains, or paper decorations on the holiday table.
As one of the fastest growing commercial building management companies in New York City, we want everyone to be safe. Commercial properties around NYC will be having parties for employees, and should also have the proper class fire extinguisher handy. If you are planning a barbecue outside, or planning to have Thanksgiving dinner at work, you are required by law to have a fire safety system in place, but during these festive times it would be a great idea to take extra precautions by having a small kitchen fire extinguisher at your disposal.
Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving from all of us to all of you!
